Terms of use
Version of 24/10/2026. Takes effect on the date of publication.
These terms govern the use of the Brisavia app (iPhone and Android) and the brisavia.com website, run by Helder Pereira (an individual), with postal address Rua Particular de Francos 206, 4250-361 Porto. By using Brisavia you accept these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
1. What Brisavia is
Brisavia helps you discover trails (by link, file, coordinates, screenshot or a request to the Assistant), prepare a walk, follow it with GPS and voice prompts, even without signal, and keep it in a diary. It also has Walk with me, which shares your live position through a link, the Caderneta and, with an account, the Friends area (friends, leagues, teams and challenges). You can use almost everything without an account.
2. Safety: this is not an emergency service
Walking in nature carries risks. Brisavia is an aid, not a guarantee. In particular:
- Brisavia is not an emergency service and does not call for rescue. If you are in danger, call 112.
- Walk with me helps whoever stays at home know where you are, but it can fail (no signal, flat battery, device error). It does not replace telling someone your route and your expected return.
- Routes, places and water points come from OpenStreetMap, made by volunteers, and can be wrong, incomplete or out of date. Trails may be closed or impassable.
- Times, calculated routes, difficulty (which is technical and does not measure effort), voice prompts and the expected arrival time are estimates. The Assistant's answers can be wrong: always check anything important.
- Water shown on the map may be dry or not drinkable. Always check on site.
- You decide whether and how to make each walk: check the weather, the waymarks, your equipment, your fitness and the rules of the area (nature parks, closed seasons, private land). You make each walk at your own risk. Do not use the app in a way that distracts you in dangerous places.
3. Account
You can use Brisavia without an account. If you create one, you must be 16 or older, you sign in with Apple or Google and you are responsible for keeping access to that account safe. You can delete the account whenever you like, in the app (Profile, Account, Delete account) or, without the app, with the request at brisavia.com/apagar-conta; the data is deleted for good after 14 days, as the privacy policy explains. If we learn that the account belongs to someone under 16, we delete it.
4. Acceptable use
You may not use Brisavia to:
- do anything illegal, or to follow, monitor or harass another person without their knowledge;
- try to access other people's data, disrupt or overload the service, get around request limits or make bulk copies of the server's data;
- use Brisavia's API by any means other than the app;
- write names, @usernames, bios and titles (display name, league name, title of a walk or a share) that are offensive, discriminatory, sexual, illegal or that impersonate another person or Brisavia, or use as a profile photo or cover pictures with that content, or that show other people without their consent, or children;
- cheat in discoveries, points or tables, for example with simulated locations or multiple accounts.
We may limit or suspend access for anyone who breaks these rules or puts the service or other people at risk.
5. Walk with me
When you start a share, whoever has the link sees your live position, the planned route and the battery, until 24 hours after the end or until you revoke it. Choose carefully who you send the link to and use it only to share your own position, with your knowledge. The share is yours and you can end or revoke it at any time.
6. Friends, leagues and other people's content
In the Friends area you see the name, colour and walks your friends chose to share with you, and the names and points of the members of your leagues. Rules:
- Zero tolerance for abusive content and for anyone who abuses other people. By using Friends you accept these rules.
- Every name, @username and bio goes through a filter before it is accepted. Photos and covers are seen only by your friends; we do not scan them automatically, a person reviews them when someone reports them. You can report a person's name, photo or @username, or block them, from their card; a block hides each of you from the other everywhere and the person is not told.
- Two reports from different people hide the name, the photo or the @username for everyone but the person themself until it is reviewed. We review reports as quickly as we can and may hide names and photos, take away an @username, remove content, take someone out of a league or suspend the account. To ask for a review or report something else, write to the contact in section 14.
- Only invite people you know. What a friend sees of you is what you chose to share; you can stop sharing, remove a friend or leave a league whenever you like.
- Walk links: anyone who has the public link of a walk can open it. Create one only for walks you are happy to show to anyone, and do not post it where you do not want it seen; you can turn it off whenever you like and it stops working. A link expires after 90 days; you can renew it in the app for another 90 days.
7. Points, stamps, tables and the Caderneta
Points, stamps, goals, tables, challenges and other rewards in the app are just a game. They have no cash value, cannot be exchanged or transferred, and may be changed, recalculated or withdrawn. The server checks discoveries and may not count those that look impossible or made by cheating.
8. Assistant and AI
The Assistant uses a model on the phone (the device's, an open model you download, or simple rules). Cloud AI is not available at this time; before we open it, we will update these terms and the privacy policy and ask you first. The Assistant never invents a trail's geometry (routes come from the catalogue or the routing engine), but the text of the answers can contain mistakes. Do not ask the Assistant for help in an emergency: call 112.
9. Content and intellectual property
- The code, the name and the Brisavia brand belong to whoever developed them; you may not copy or use them beyond what the law allows.
- What you create (adventures, notes, diary, titles) is yours. You only give us the limited, non-exclusive licence to store and process it to provide you the service (for example syncing between your phones, showing a walk to the friends you chose, showing your live share or a walk link to whoever has it).
- Map, route and place data is © OpenStreetMap contributors, under the ODbL licence; the AI models and the other free software have their own licences. See the Credits page.
- When you import a link or a file, you are responsible for having the right to use it. The app reads public pages for personal use and, if the page has a share image (OpenGraph), may show it with the page's name as credit; do not republish third-party content without permission.
10. Availability, test versions and changes
We do our best to make the service work well, but we do not guarantee that it is always available or free of errors. Test versions (for example on TestFlight) may have bugs and features that change or disappear. We may change, interrupt or end features, giving reasonable notice when they could affect you materially. If paid features ever exist (for example Brisavia Pro), they will be announced clearly and sold through the app stores, under their terms.
11. Liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for damage resulting from decisions you make based on Brisavia's data and estimates, or for failures of third-party services (network, GPS, Apple, Google, maps). Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that the law does not allow to be excluded, or the rights you have as a consumer.
12. Privacy
How we handle your personal data is described in the privacy policy, which is part of these terms.
13. Changes to the terms
We may update these terms. If the change is material, we will say so in the app or on the site before it applies. If you keep using Brisavia afterwards, you accept the new version.
14. Governing law and contact
These terms are governed by Portuguese law, without prejudice to the rights that the law of the country where you live gives you as a consumer. For any question, reports included: suporte@brisavia.com.
